Food Service Worker

Duties included, but are not limited to the following tasks:
- Assembles patient trays by applying knowledge of special diets and portion control and local policy. - Prepares and portions salads and desserts using standardized recipe and according to the diet census. - Prepares and portions desserts according to diet census and standard portion sizes. - Prepares the cold standing orders according to the standing orders lists. - Sanitizes work area according to HACCP standards and local policy. - Sweeps and mops floor in assigned area using correct chemicals to clean and sanitize the floor. - Uses correct chemicals to clean and sanitize equipment used to complete daily assignments. - Assembles and delivers late trays according to computerized tray tickets. - Picks up dirty food trays for assigned wards. - Sets up, cleans and restocks assigned position on tray line. - Records temperatures of foods prior to tray assembly time to ensure they are at the proper temperature. - Stores food using HACCP standards, JCAHO standards and local policy. - Attends and participates in scheduled training classes. - Assembles supplemental feedings according to nourishment list. - Delivers assembled supplemental feedings according to local policy. - Records temperature of ward refrigerators. - Maintains proper levels of bulk nourishments. - Cleans ward refrigerators to ensure that outdated food is discarded, and food stored according to local policy. - Identifies discrepancies between the prescribed diets and the food items designated by the menu. Food Service Worker/PD07382A Physical Requirements:
This position requires working under pressure with inflexible deadlines. Must be able to concentrate for lengthy periods of time and work with frequent interruptions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks requiring repetitive twisting and bending. Must be able to stand on a hard-surfaced floor for long periods of time. Work is performed around large heat generating and moving equipment. Work, at times, may be performed on wet, potentially slippery floors. Work environment may range from very warm to extremely cold. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Experience:
A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT:
Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. The screen-out element is the Ability to work as a Food Service Worker WG 3 without more than normal supervision. Dexterity and Safety, Interpret Instructions, Specifications (other than blueprint reading), Materials, Special Aptitude - Food Service Work, Technical Practices, Without more than normal supervision, and Work Practices Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note:
A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
