Windows Server Architect

Whole Foods Market Information Technology Team is looking for a talented individual that can provide support and thought leadership of Windows Server infrastructure and services. This is a Technical role on a Team with equally dedicated and passionate Engineers supporting our server and virtualization services.
This position will be based with the Global Technology Team in Austin, TX.


  • Scope, architect, and design server technologies with infrastructure as code
  • Design, install, and maintain Windows and Linux servers
  • Design and architect high-availability and disaster recovery solutions in AWS and VMWare
  • Trains and mentors other engineers; serves as a point of escalation for system issues
  • Troubleshoot system malfunctions and/or other unplanned outages, and provide analysis and recommendations for resolution and prevention
  • Maintains and restores virtual machine "backups" and snapshots
  • Evaluates and tunes for maximum performance and availability
  • Performs ongoing security checks to maintain the security, integrity, and backup routines
  • Provides configuration management and security compliance for the virtual infrastructure software and hardware
  • Develop PowerShell and CloudFormation scripts
  • Partner with other Infrastructure Team Members to learn, develop and enhance the skills needed to support software-based Infrastructure
  • Collaborates with Internal Infrastructure Teams to resolve escalated support issues
  • Be self-directed, provide detailed estimates and work breakdown of typical activities leveraging an agile framework
  • Takes part in an after-hours on-call support rotation and implement solutions, patching and deployment activities after hours as needed
  • Adheres to established security, support, and testing policies and procedures
  • Keeps current through contacts with professional societies, and technical publications
  • Maintains awareness of applicable new technologies, processes, and competitive trends
  • Develops and maintain relationships with partner companies
  • Establishes and maintain effective relationships with Internal Infrastructure, Application and Business partners in order to understand needs, use, and systems to facilitate effective technology implementations
  • Maintains technical expertise in AWS, Microsoft, VMware, and virtualization technologies
  • Research and follow industry trends around Server Engineering and provide recommendations that influence our strategic plans
  • Engages with development teams during operational security reviews and provides leadership and security design guidance
  • Monitors technology and security developments and ensures the company's security framework follows industry best practices
  • Advanced understanding of standard identity management tools, technologies, and processes
  • Plays a key and influential role working with others, in groups, in cross-functional settings and with diverse stakeholders internally and externally


  • 10+ years of experience with Windows Server, Linux, and VMware operating systems
  • 3+ years of experience designing solutions within Amazon Web Services
  • 3+ years of experience with containerization technologies
  • 2+ years of experience with PowerShell and AWS CloudFormation.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect (preferred)
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer (preferred)
  • B.S. Degree in Computer Science or related IT work experience in a global information technology environment

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
