Summary:
Drives gasoline or diesel powered tractor trailer combination to transport and deliver products or materials loose or packaged by performing the following duties:
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Drives truck to destination
Maintains driver log according to I.C. regulations
Loads and unloads truck utilizing forklift or winch on trailer and/or assists other workers in loading and unloading.
Prepares receipts for load picked up
Maintains truck log, according to state and federal regulations
Maintains telephone/e-mail contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions
Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil and water, submits report indicating truck condition
Performs emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains and spark plugs
Positions blocks and ties rope around items to secure cargo during transit
Operates the winches and live poles for loading and unloading
Fills out completely and consisely each bill of lading or delivery ticket for jobs assigned.
Logs in daily hours
Cleans tractor daily and keeps trailer decks free of loose debris
Maintains an inventory of tools for performing various jobs, and keeps these items in good working order.
Maintains current knowledge of State of Oklahoma and Federal D.O.T. rules and regulations
Performs other duties as assigned
Requisites:
Education:High School Diploma/GED a minimum of 4 years experience operating semi truck with multiple trailers.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Pass the required physical examination, including drug and alcohol screening.
Possess Class A CDL.
Pass D.O.T. Physical.
