Your Opportunity
Impact The Technical Manager will coordinate and direct a technical team to identify and accomplish goals by directing the integration of technical activities for specific transportation projects.
Technical Teams include complex bridge design and analysis, or, hydrologic & hydraulic reports, contractor phase engineering, and QA/QC of bridge and roadway plans/designs.
This position is responsible for the overall management of technical aspects of projects for a specific discipline including technical design, quality control, scope, budgeting, and financial performance.
The Technical Manager will be responsible for managing technical teams' job assignments to various projects and will work closely with Project Managers and other staff to ensure technical aspects are being met.
Key Responsibilities Reviews and confirms accuracy of the work performed and methods used by technical team.
Tracks project budgets & schedules and identifies potential issues.
Responsible for technical, quality, and financial performance of the technical team.
Answers questions and resolves issues brought forth by engineering, technical, and project teams.
Acts as the Engineer of Record as required.
Communicates and collaborates with managers, clients, and contractors.
Conducts various tests and quality assurance checks to verify the quality of completed projects.
Assists in preparing and oversees scope, budgets and timelines for engineering and/or technical projects.
Prepares and delivers various technical presentations, both internally and externally as needed.
Reviews contract plan and agreement documents for accuracy, as related to specific technical discipline.
May oversee and mentor technical staff and ensure supervisory tasks are complete, to include reviewing/approving timesheets, performing annual reviews, and assuring compliance with company and department policies and procedures.
Promotes, utilizes, and supports quality assurance and quailty control processes to improve the quality of deliverables and reduce design errors & omissions.
Performs final QA/QC review of project submissions.
Education
Experience Bachelor's or Master's Degree in relevant Engineering field from ABET-accredited school, or related field of study.
Minimum of (10) years job-related experience.
PennDOT or Pennsylvania Turnpike bridge design experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
Professional Engineer (PE) required.
Must have thorough knowledge of the design and development process of transportation bridge projects and knowledge of AASHTO and PennDOT Design Manuals, Standards, Specifications, Engineering Software, and Microstation.
Understanding of and ability to prepare bridge design, bridge construction plans, and specifications.
Including special provisions, and other related project documents.
Must possess the ability to work both independently and as part of a Project Team, strong leadership and interpersonal skills, ability to interact with clients, vendors, regulatory agencies, and other external sources in a professional manner Job Type:
