Overview UNIX Server Administrator
Summary:
DNI is providing server administration support to the Air Logistics Center to include day-to-day maintenance of Unix/Linux/Solaris Servers, Server Software, and other tools used within an Application Server eXchange (ASX)As a UNIX system administrator, you will be responsible for the OS and hardware installation, configuration, monthly patching and maintenance of our virtual and physical UNIX serversIn this role, you will troubleshoot server errors, OS errors, upgrade OS, install new system hardware, respond to user issues, and monitor and fix the performance issues of the serversYou will also need to be experienced in updating the ILOM and IDRAC firmware for the SPARC and INTEL hardware currently being usedThis position will also monitor, evaluate, troubleshoot, tune, and analyze system performance to maintain maximum effectiveness and efficiency throughout the various systems environments; install and upgrade hardware; and install, set up, and configure various operating systems and applicationsResponsibilitieso Provide direct support for customer's systems and applicationso Act as the Functional Systems Administrator (FSA)o Assist project managers on issues related to software development and problem resolutiono Responsible for the setup, configuration, and maintenance of UNIX Serverso Responsible for system security , including applying updates, security checks, and the reporting of security incidents in accordance with government regulationso Installing and upgrading UNIX system software on company servers and computers.
o Creating UNIX file systems (zfs, ufs and zpools).
o Setting up and maintaining UNIX user accounts and access management systems.
o Implementing network and computer system policies.
o Work with ORACLE DBAs to provide them reliable hardware and OS to operate their databases on.
o Detecting and troubleshooting software and hardware issues.
o Responding to user requests and software errors.
o Monitoring the performance of the system and server.
o Setting up and monitoring security policies.
o Applying monthly patches and upgrades when necessary.
o PKI and Certificate generation and usage.
o Checking the UNIX systems against Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and making necessary changes to keep the servers STIG compliant.
o Be familiar with DoD Cyber Security practicesQualificationso US Citizenshipo Active or Interim DoD Secret Clearanceo CompTIA Security
Certifiedo Strong written and verbal communication skillso 4
years of experience in UNIX Server Administration Preferred Experience and Skillso Experience working in the US Air Force IT environmento Experience applying Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)o Experience remediating Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs) on servers and appliances.
o Knowledge and/or experience in:
o Latest UNIX server operating systemso PowerShell,o TrueSight Consoleo SSH terminal (Tectia)o Puttyo Vsphere,o STIG viewer Recommended Skills Communication Comp Tia Security
Computer Security Databases Firmware Linux Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
