General Description:
Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President of Pharmacy, the Director of Pharmacy, Oklahoma Children's Hospital, is responsible for the overall operation of the hospital pharmacy department.

Develops and maintains policies, procedures and processes that promote safe, efficient and cost-effective medication use in pediatrics and that comply with TJC standards, as well as, federal and state regulatory agencies.
Responsible for generating and implementing an operational plan with goals and objectives that are in alignment with the facilities' strategic goals; achieving and enhancing customer and employee satisfaction; and managing all fiscal, material, and human resources.
Maintains current knowledge of JCAHO, DEA, OBNDDC and Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy rules, regulations and standards.
Develops programs that ensure all pharmacists and pharmacy personnel are competent to perform their professional duties and responsibilities.
This includes but is not limited to evaluating employee's performance in a timely and professional manner, coaching, counseling, and hiring Directs all aspects of monthly financial data; analysis of end-of-month drug utilization data and purchasing information.
Identifies high cost drug use that may be inappropriate and develops corrective strategies.
Works closely with physicians and other health care professionals to ensure quality services.
Actively participates in committees, meeting and functions as required by the hospital administration.
Maintains an appropriate staffing level to ensure that the service and responsibilities of the department are provided in a timely and quality manner.
Ensure overtime does not exceed budget.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Education:
Graduate of an ACPE Accredited School of Pharmacy and a BS in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree required.
Experience:
Seven years of recent hospital/institutional pediatrics experience with at least five years of pediatrics experience as a Director, Assistant Director or similar pharmacy management role required.
License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required:
Licensed as a Doctor of Pharmacy (D.
Ph.
) by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy.
Certificate as a preceptor by the Oklahoma Board of Pharmacy when eligible.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of current pharmacy related rules, regulations, requirements and standards.
Must be highly proficient in the management skills of planning, controlling, coordinating and measuring departmental activities.
Knowledge of the use of personal protective equipment during the preparation of cytotoxic pharmaceuticals Ability to achieve targeted results in a complex, interdisciplinary environment.
Critical thinking, problem-solving and project management skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to focus on service excellence and excellent customer service.
Skill in supervising staff.
