5K a year 23 hours ago 23 hours ago 23 hours ago The VoIP Installation and Repair Technician is a key role in successfully delivering our Dobson Fiber services including Hosted PBX Deployments and Optical Network Terminal (ONT) and is responsible for the professional installation and support of DobsonUC Hosted PBX Phone Services.
This critical role is accountable for installing solutions that meet the client's technical requirements and doing so in a timely fashion.
The VoIP Install and Repair Technician also must possess personal and administrative skills such as self-motivation and initiative, efficient time management skills, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, creating accurate documentation, open communication across various media, and consistently delivering working solutions.
Successful interactions with customers via phone, email, and in-person communication has as much importance as the technical knowledge of delivering the solution.
While this position is mostly independent work, it is a highly visible by both the customer and Dobson internal departments.
Tasks /
Responsibilities:
Perform all aspects of DobsonUC Phone System deployments:
o Preinstallation Preparation o Technical Site Survey for DobsonUC readiness o Equipment collection and tracking o System Configuration o Onsite Installation o Customer Training and support Provides technical support for DobsonUC customers as requested Ensures change control and other processes & procedures are followed Ensures that configuration documentation is completed when systems are deployed or modified Track projects via a variety of systems and maintain documentation as project progresses.
Work in a Technical resource capacity with Sales Team for potential clients as required Install, maintain/repair, and test residential/small business services Fiber to the Home (FTTH), Fiber to the Business (FTTB), Voice Services (HOSTED, & POTS).
Perform splicing on single fiber strands and terminating ethernet cables.
Analyze, troubleshoot, and provide knowledgeable feedback on technical problems and/or issues.
Review and discuss service order requirements and equipment requests with customers, evaluating customer needs and suggest additional/alternative service as appropriate.
Use hand tools, power tools, and specialty tools, including telecommunications measuring devices.
Read and interpret service orders, tickets, technical drawings, maps, blueprints, diagrams, etc.
from supervisor or other designated employees and perform specified work.
Works with telecom color-coded wires and cables.
Able to repair cut cable of all sizes.
Required Advanced Level Knowledge of the Following:
Operating systems such as Windows and proficient at using Web based applications.
EXCEL/WORD/Outlook proficiency General Network LAN/WAN knowledge of concepts and functions would be preferred.
Ability to create/install ethernet cabling would be preferred.
Analytical and process-oriented approach to issues and assigned tasks Advanced level diagnostic method and skills in a variety of environments Must be highly organized, detailed oriented, and adapt to sudden changes Must be willing to learn new things and be comfortable with technical IT environments.
Experience installing, maintaining/repairing, and testing residential/small business telecommunication service, including fiber (OSP/ISP) and ONT devices.
Ability to complete designated amount of work in a specified timeframe, adjusting work assignments or schedules to meet changing work-related priorities or demands.
Provide quality service to both internal and external customers (face-to-face, over phone, email).
Ability to work well with others, as well as to work independently in field with minimal supervision.
Ability to appropriately communicate and interact with customer.
Ability to perceive differences in telecom wire and cable color.
Possess a valid State issued driver's license with a current satisfactory driving record.
Work varying shifts and hours including possible overtime, weekends, and holidays.
Education and
Experience:
Experience in Information Technology infrastructure support preferred.
Experience in Telephone infrastructure preferred Education in Computer Science/Networking or related discipline or equivalent training and experience preferred Experience in VoIP PBX systems a plus.
Experience in Computer Desktop Support is a plus 12 months experience installing, repairing/maintaining, and testing residential/small business telecommunication service (FTTH/FTTB/HOSTED/POTS).
12 months experience connecting telecom color-coded wires and cables to terminals, attaching, or detaching various kinds of hardware to wires, cables, buildings, and poles.
12 months experience with fusion splicing equipment to also include experience using Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) and optical power meters (PM) in an underground and/or aerial environment.
Special Requirements:
Ability to drive several hours each day and for rare overnight travel Physically able to climb ladders, crawl under desks, and lift/move standard office furniture.
