4 Quick Apply Full-time 13 hours ago Full Job Description Looking for a qualified High Voltage Transmission Line Estimator.
LOCATION Remote work from home SUMMARY The Estimator completes (full EPC) utility scale (not residential) electrical renewable and utility projects to include civil, mechanical, and electrical construction.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES This position will assume responsibility for working with the Estimating Department and others in planning the scope of work for complete construction of renewable and utility projects, including oversight for sound financial and construction methodology.
The Estimator will manage all aspects of estimate development with consideration to costs, schedules, scopes of work, materials selection, and quality.
The Estimator will create the preparation of RFP/RFQ documentation and specifications to be issued to material suppliers, subcontractors, and Sentry's own electrical divisions.
The Estimator will complete subcontractor and material supplier bid analysis, make preliminary selections, and finalize comprehensive proposals to renewable/utility project owners.
The following are additional duties and responsibilities that the estimator is required to do:
Estimate complete projects in accordance with renewable and utility industry standards and Sentry Electrical Group's Company Policies and Procedures.
Work with engineers, operations department, and construction personnel to identify and review work to be estimated, including review of Request for Proposal (RFP), drawings, specifications, and related internally and externally generated documents.
Estimates will include time and material requirements, labor resources (costs and quantities) and where necessary, the estimator will analyze regional labor rates and per diems to be used in the estimate.
Working with Engineering and Design teams, the Jr.
Estimator will prepare material take-offs, develop corresponding estimates as well as obtaining quotations from vendors and subcontractors for materials and contracted tasks not being performed by the Company.
Confer with internal and external groups (engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors) on changes and adjustments to cost estimates Identify opportunities, risks, and contingencies throughout the project duration.
Create and maintain a market analysis database of different types of construction projects for multiple divisions Lead a project handoff process from the estimating department to operations for a successful launch of the awarded project Review and determine if projects are a fit economically for Sentry based upon multiple metrics including but not limited to labor type, location, schedule, project size, project scope, client management.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Prefer BS degree in a business or engineering discipline program Strongly preferred experience with T&D (Transmission and Distribution) estimating of high voltage power lines.
Knowledge of personal computers and software applications with MS office application proficiency Excellent oral and written communications skills including the ability to author and make presentations, writing technical documents, letters and preparing invoices.
Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills and ability to develop and maintain relationships (internal and external).
Ability to travel to project sites, assess project performance, site conditions, and revise affected estimates accordingly.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This job operates in a professional office environment.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, filing cabinets, photocopiers and fax machines.
Employees are frequently required to sit, and occasionally required to kneel, reach, stoop, crouch or crawl.
This position requires the ability to lift files, open file cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary.
This position may occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
